After 36 years with The Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., General Manager Inger M. Tallaksen has decided to retire, effective June 30, 2017. This announcement was made by NACC President Giacomo Landi, at the organization’s September 22 Board of Directors’ meeting, and was regretfully accepted by the board. At that time Mr. Landi made the following statement:
“I wish to congratulate Inger on her more than 36 years of excellent and dedicated service to the Norwegian American community. Her achievements in enhancing commercial and cultural relations between Norway and the United States are greatly appreciated and acknowledged by so many, including HM King Harald who appointed her Knight First Class of The Norwegian Order of Merit.
It seemed at times Inger carried the NACC on her back, and we need to thank her for doing this; for always having the organization’s best interests at heart, and for bringing the organization through a wonderful 100 year celebration in 2015 capped by the Centennial Gala attended by The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway. Inger and her team have set up yet another year of great member events through spring 2017.
We look forward to Inger staying on as General Manager until June 30, 2017 to ensure a successful transition as well as complete all of the programs we have planned in a great way. I know Inger will continue to be involved with the NACC and the Norwegian community in the United States including her Chairmanship of the Norwegian Seaman’s Church and active role on the board of the American Scandinavian Foundation. We look forward to celebrating Inger many times.”
